Astronomical Gastronomy

Food! You got your just deserts when this fare is finally uncovered.
Here are some super-overdued food pictures to share, and it's on done on purpose to whet your appetite. *EVIL LAUGH*

KO Japanese (Intercontinental Hotel)

I dedicate KO Japanese restaurant first because it is one of the best japanese restaurants I've dined in, complete with its stunning decor and fanciful culinary delights. Nevertheless, Akashi, Sushi Tei, Waraku are still affordable places to dine, especially when your purse-strings are tight. (Of course!!!) Kindly forget about Sakae Sushi and its fetid salmon pieces. (eww!)

(These photos are gacked off from the Internet. More food photos later) The red-black motif design and soothing ambience is reminiscent of Balinese, further complete with subtle Japanese nuances, creating a whole new dining experience

The Kaiseiki set, consisting of 8 exquisitely designed Japanese dishes, is most popular with lunch time guests, and is priced at only $38! Guest are enthralled to return monthly to savour the chef's new creations. It certainly looks like something from Japan Hour - no less. Every piece of sushi was so dainty, it was hell of a pain to chew... ouch!

Nanbantei (Far East)

Nanbantei
is a cosy Japanese retaurant, that specialises in Yakitori. These hot sizzling skewers are grilled over charcoal specially imported from Japan, that gives the roasted meat its distinctive flavour and lending a smoky taste to the vegatables all the while retaining precious moisture in them. The lightly salted ladyfinger is surprisingly succuluent and sweet!

I chose the set with Sashimi, and I paid dearly for that mistake. 4 more yakitori sticks in exchange for sashimi? Anytime. Please do not pick the set with sashimi, as I suppose they do not specialise in Sashimi. Sashimi stocks are probably not as fresh as you would expect it to be. Take a look at the salmon pieces below. The brown fatty parts suggest stink! Colours are dull; paucity of orangey pink.

Nanbantei offers fresh raw vegetables(cabbage, carrot, turnip) as an appetizer. It tasted oddly sweet. You know? how horrible raw cabbage tastes like. Perhaps the vegatables are imported from Japan (haha), grown in fecund volcanic soil rich in minerals and watered tenderly with deep sea water off the Sea of Japan (my imagination).

Asparagus wrapped in bacon.
Tender Chicken Balls
Tomatos wrapped in bacon (Fabulous!)

Lady's Finger (with Depth-of-Field achieved... oh but that's beside the point)

Greenwood Fishmarket & Bistro (Greenwood Ave. Bukit Timah)

I'll let the photos do the talking. It's fresh seafood with affordable pricings!
