After I came home from the auditions, I felt I was coming down with a flu. MAYBE that's why I wasn't concentrating.. haha, but no excuse for that. I am also excited about the prospect of having a Classical-Contemporary workshop at UAN, and at least people will know why we are here for. At least I think the peeps who heard us play during the audition liked the music and Willie commented that it was refreshing. And it was also the first time Joy, Joel and the main people at UAN heard us with the background music. As Kenny puts it, they need us to balance the equation. Apparently, there were too many singers, and too many singers+guitar. Lke the last time we went for the roof top performance, it was ok, but after a while it had began to sound boring.
We also met a new friend, Brian, who's also into composing, and he played after us. I did like the style of his piece as it sounded like a mix of contemporary + debussy.. no it did not sound a lot like jazz, although he told us that he is taking ABRSM graded examinations in Jazz. I would have turned into his style if not for duet playing, CUBASE, Fruity Loops and the realization that solo piano will never bring me far, since I'm not that good as a solo player. I always wanted to learn jazz harmony!! Harmony has always been on my mind now, and I nearly forgot about Dip, but I guess it's only my wish and I doubt I will ever force myself to pursue it further. My interest no longer lay in purely playing the piano, in fact it has never been that case. I realise I have a serious rhythmic problem, that KENNY can attest to! haha...horrors.
Currently, I am re- picking up a book that I have laid in the dust for ages: The Elegant Universe. The Grand Unified Theory has always intrigued me, what exactly is gravity? what is space? Reading this book did jolt me; it made me reconsider taking Physics as my major. I know that if I want to research, it will definitely be Physics for me.
