It was a long week but it felt like a short week really. I miss German lessons, it was the only time of the day when I felt like studying it, otherwise I will be already dozing off looking at the verb lists.

Anyway the main events of the week were:
1. Dmitri, a Greek, who flared up with the teacher. 2 Japanese girls showing contempt for the usage of English in class.
2. Sushi bar outing
3. Greek restaurant outing
4. Karneval den Kulturen (13 - 16 May)
5.Reichtag Visit

1.
Some people were already complaining about the teacher because they felt that she couldn't explain things very well, especially vocabulary, whch is indeed quite true because most of the time is resorts to explaining the vocabulary in english. It is especially frustrating for the other 2 Japanese girls when English is not their mother tongue. I shall not narrate about what happened between the Greek and the teacher, but the result was that he changed to an evening class.

The last straw blew between the Japanese girls and the teacher was when one of them told the teacher to stop explaining the vocabulary in english, and it happened something along the lines of :

Jap: Can u stop explaining in English. We don't understand.

Teacher: Ok ... *waves hands up to signify that she surrendered* SORRY!!

Jap: Sorry is in English. Entschuldigung is in German.

Teacher: No.. but nowadays sorry is quite a popular word with germans. like FUCK YOU!

Jap: *totally bewildered face*

Teacher: FUCK YOU!

After the teacher realised that she was saying the expletive right at their faces, she said sorry again, and again realising that it was english, before muttering entschuldigung.

2.
Sushi bar outing was quite a disaster because the sushi was totally disgusting to begin with, and the alcoholic drinks that accompanied it was horrible too. The rice was too mushy and the seaweed soggy. The lesson I learnt was that if you want to eat Japanese food in Europe, you have to see who's the chef. The chef looked chinese, still asian, but not japanese and that was why it tasted so bad. At some other sushi places where I passed by, I always look into the restaurant, and sometimes am horrified that the chefs are not japanese. I know for sure then that they are serving ersatz sushi.

But it was through this outing that I met this young and stupid girl that kept going on how cool the crazy parties that she've been in Berlin. One such party that she described was a 'KIT KAT' party where there is a dresscode that says everyone should be undressed, toally naked and yes you can continue to imagine. She was saying how cool it was, how nice it is to be groped! And then later she kept lamenting about her failed relationships, and that this guy is interested in her right now, who keeps flirting with her, but has a girlfriend. Bear in mind now that she is only 19, from Coasta Rica. Just imagine.

And now some else to imagine. If I tell you now that it is not uncommon to find pornographic magazines on the streets, you i'll probably start flaming me. But now let's just imagine that the TEENS, TEENAGE, LIME magazines in Singapore containing pornographic teens, about say 16? Yes, there are self-introduction pages in teenage magazines here, showing on the first page, the dressed teen, and the usual profile, then flip over the second page and tada... appalling..

3.
Greek restaurant outing was nice and cosy. Can't say much about it but from now, I really LOVE zucchinis and aubergines... yummy

4. and 5.
Karneval den Kulturen = Carnival of the Cultures

Cool, it's something like the Ching gay parade we have back in Singapore, though they have stalls selling the culture's stuff. Photos of the Carnival and the Reichtag visit will be up later when I have the time.
